Multifractality of random eigenfunctions and generalization of Jarzynski equality

چکیده
Systems driven out of equilibrium experience large fluctuations of the dissipated work. The same is true for wavefunction amplitudes in disordered systems close to the Anderson localization transition. In both cases, the probability distribution function is given by the large-deviation ansatz. Here we exploit the analogy between the statistics of work dissipated in a driven single-electron box and that of random multifractal wavefunction amplitudes, and uncover new relations that generalize the Jarzynski equality. We checked the new relations theoretically using the rate equations for sequential tunnelling of electrons and experimentally by measuring the dissipated work in a driven single-electron box and found a remarkable correspondence. The results represent an important universal feature of the work statistics in systems out of equilibrium and help to understand the nature of the symmetry of multifractal exponents in the theory of Anderson localization.

On Generalization of Sturm-Liouville Theory for Fractional Bessel Operator
In this paper, we give the spectral theory for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of a boundary value problem consisting of the linear fractional Bessel operator. Moreover, we show that this operator is self-adjoint, the eigenvalues of the problem are real, and the corresponding eigenfunctions are orthogonal. In this paper, we give the spectral theory for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions...

The presence of multiplicative noise can alter measurements of forces acting on nanoscopic objects. Taking into account of multiplicative noise, we derive a series of nonequilibrium thermodynamical equalities as generalization of the Jarzynski equality, the detailed fluctuation theorem and the Hatano-Sasa relation. Our result demonstrates that the Jarzynski equality and the detailed fluctuation...
متن کاملMultifractal dimensions for all moments for certain critical random-matrix ensembles in the strong multifractality regime.
We construct perturbation series for the qth moment of eigenfunctions of various critical random-matrix ensembles in the strong multifractality regime close to localization. Contrary to previous investigations, our results are valid in the region q<1/2. Our findings allow one to verify, at first leading orders in the strong multifractality limit, the symmetry relation for anomalous fractal dime...
متن کاملThe work-Hamiltonian connection and the usefulness of the Jarzynski equality for free energy calculations.
The connection between work and changes in the Hamiltonian for a system with a time-dependent Hamiltonian has recently been called into question, casting doubt on the usefulness of the Jarzynski equality for calculating free energy changes. In this paper, we discuss the relationship between two possible definitions of free energy and show how some recent disagreements regarding the applicabilit...

The one-dimensional expanding ideal gas model is used to compute the exact nonequilibrium distribution function. The state of the system during the expansion is defined in terms of local thermodynamics quantities. The final equilibrium free energy, obtained a long time after the expansion, is compared against the free energy that appears in the Jarzynski equality. Within this model, where the J...
